Ethel’s delivers exceptional value, a mountain of delicious seafood and sausages for only 21. Usually the liquid is the main star of gumbo. At Ethel’s, it’s milder, a supporting character to enhance the flavors of the protein. The food’s warm, nourishing, and gentle. And, somehow, you don’t get tired of it. The atmosphere’s charming and well taken care of. Everything’s spick and span. The service needs to be a bit slower paced, though. It is well-intentioned, meant to be highly attentive. However, when plates get cleared without asking as soon as they’re emptied, and then the check gets dropped as soon as everyone finished their food, it can come across as softly kicking us out of the restaurant. Overall, a highly recommended dining destination in Baltimore.

Lovely place, solid menu, and great drinks. So good to get some creole food on a chilly evening. The Creole Shrimp Boat and Jambalaya were flavorful and full of seafood and meat, respectively.

Almost everything was 10/10 and I would fully recommend this spot for good food! Be prepared to spend more money than usual, but if we are basing everything off of what I have had, it was definitely worth it. Even though I have had jambalaya elsewhere, including in New Orleans, so far the jambalaya here is the best I have ever had. It was flavorful, abundant in quantity, well-seasoned, and had a good balance of meat, rice, and vegetables on the side. The baby back ribs were sure slow roasted because the meat was falling off the bones very easily, with a sufficient amount of ribs in some delicious sauce. There was also a good amount of roasted zucchini, squash, and carrots, so I was thoroughly satisfied. They have the ribs available in the mango chipotle sauce as well. I didn't have the cucumber salad, but I did have some of the Mom's Crab Cakes, which my friends ordered. They were not like traditional crab cakes, because the crab cakes had no filler at all. It was everything crab, which made it more worth it, which also meant that it was expensive because it was between 40 and 50 when we got it. Once again, a good amount of vegetables, and a good amount of mashed potatoes. I enjoyed it a lot as well, even if part of me wasn't really used to it. Once again, highly recommended! If I return here at any point, then I will, without a doubt, try their authentic gumbo and their Crawfish Fried Grits, which they were out of when we tried to order it today.

Ethel's has to be the one of the best creole restaurants in Maryland hands down. I have never had such good creole food in my 30 years in Maryland. The gumbo, crab cake, shrimp boat, and jambalaya were all so distinctly delicious. The corn bread with scallion butter is to die for!! The scallion butter is such a mind blowing experience as it brightens up the savory corn bread. The balance of spice, seasoning, and savoriness was divine. The prices correspond with the quantity of seafood and portions that are given. The small quaintness of the restaurant made me feel like I was teleported outside of Maryland into a creole restaurant in Louisiana. A must try for anyone who thoroughly enjoys creole food.

Came here for a graduation dinner. And it was DELICIOUS! We all ate well and left happy! I had the Cat Stack I HIGHLY recommend yall have it. The table ordered ribs, Nola chicken, salmon, jambalaya. Everyone finished their meal. Also ordered both items available for dessert (chocolate cake and blueberry bread pudding... something like that) Additionally, we were actually able to get our reservations moved from 6:15 to 5:00 and that’s accommodating 8 people. Truly a gem!

Karey was great. Compliments to the chef. Food was amazing! I ordered the crab soup and jambalaya. I need to come back for the crab dip! Great eating experience. I recommend to try on a weekday as the chef can take his time to make the food right with the utmost quality.

We usually come to Ethel’s Creole twice a year. The food is truly amazing. If you are in the mood for a gumbo or jambalaya, this is the place to go. They serve the best shrimp and portions are huge. During our last visit on a Wednesday evening, we were the only customers till the end of the meal at which time a lonely customer walked in. With such delicious food, this place should be packed.

I found this spot on Google because I wanted to try something different in the city. I walked in and noticed it was a nice quaint spot. The atmosphere was very nice. The staff was very pleasant. But I must say the food was delicious and awesome. They gave huge portions so much so that I couldn't eat it all and had to take it with me. I had the crab dip as shown in the pics. It was tasty. I loved it. I also had the brisket, mac and cheese, and shrimp thingy. That was great. As I stated, the portion was huge. It was suggested by my server, Lindsay, who was wonderful, might I add. My friend had red beans and rice, and I tasted a sample, and that was good. They have a nice menu of other things I want to try, so I will certainly be back.
